ASSEMBLY TECHNOLOGY

In industrial production, assembly refers to the planned combination of components and products to form modules at higher product levels.

The main sub-operations of an assembly process are:

  • Joining (e.g. riveting/ pressing / caulking)
  • Handling (e.g. gripping)
  • Checking (e.g. measuring)
  • Adjustment (e.g. setting)
  • Special operations (e.g. cleaning)

Along with work preparation, parts production / processing and production control, assembly forms part of the production system of an industrial company.
