CAULKING

Caulking refers to the creation of a non-positive and positive connection between two individual workpieces via plastic deformation. This definition of the edge zone (of at least one of the parts) occurs in such a way that they interlock into each other inseparably.

In contrast to cohesive material connections (e.g. welding), caulking also allows different materials to be joined.

The surface roughness of the two parts being caulked is of significant importance to the level of force that can be transferred and the durability of the connection.
